Elizabeth Cruickshank taught English at a Sixth Form College before qualifying as a solicitor in 1989. Specialising in tax law, she worked at several City law firms both as a fee-earner and as a Professional Support Lawyer.
She is a past Chairwoman of the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS), the founding editor of LINK, the AWS magazine, and in 2005 was the recipient of the Eva Crawley Award for services to women solicitors. She has written numerous articles in legal journals including the Law Society Gazette, Legal Week, Taxation and of course in LINK.
Elizabeth is the author of Women in the Law: Strategic Career Management (Law Society Publishing, 2003) and co-author of Sisters in Law (PZ Publishing 2003). She is married and has two children and three grandchildren.
Penny Cooper is Associate Dean at the City Law School, City University, where she runs the Continuing Professional Development department. She qualified as a barrister in 1990 and practised law for almost eleven years during which she worked not only in chambers but also in-house as a solicitor in local government and in the trial departments of an American commercial law firm.
She is the author of Reporting to Court (TSO, 2006), co-author of Experts in the Civil Courts (OUP, 2006) and co-author of the updated Expert Witness Pack (Jordans Publishing, 2007). She has also written over 40 articles in professional journals including Counsel, LINK, and the New Law Journal. Penny is a governor of the Expert Witness Institute and editor of their quarterly newsletter. She is married and has two sons.
